Huge Dinosaur Discovery in China

Paleontologists in east China have dug up what they believe is one of the world's largest groups of dinosaur fossils including the remains of an enormous platypus.
Paleontologists have discovered 15 areas near Zhucheng city in Shandong province that contain thousands of dinosaur bones,the Beijing News reported.This group of fossilized dinosaurs is currently the largest ever discovered in the world...in terms of area,the paper cited paleontologist Zhao Xijin of china Academy of sciences as saying.In one area measuring 300 meters(990 feet) by 10 meters,more than 3000 bones were found,the report said.Since digging began in last March scientists have discovered more than 7600 bones.Included in the find was the largest platypus-or duck billed dinosaur in Chinese ever discovered measuring nine meters high with a wingspan wider than 16 meters the report said.Zhao said the discovery of so many dinosaurs in such a dense area could provide clues on how the animals became extinct towards the end of the Cretaceous period 65 million years ago,the Beijing News said.Scientists have also identified the remains of ankylosaurus,tyrannosaurus and coelurus according to China's official Xinhua news agency.Xinhua said paleontologists are expecting to find many more remains in the area which lies in a region that has produced more than 50 tones of dinosaur fossils since the 1960s.Plans are being made to set up a fossil park in the area but local mine operations that were suspended for the dig are eager to resume mining ,it said.

Turkish Publisher to Collaborate With Iranian Children's Writer

An expert from a book authored by Iranian Children's writer Mojgan Sheikhi will be published in Turkish and English by the Turkish publishing company Times in the near future .Twenty-five stories from "Three-hundred and sixty-Five stories for the nights of the year" have been selected for the project,sheikhi told the persian service of ISNA on monday.A number of the stories from the book have also been chosen for TV program "Good night children" which is scheduled to be aired by IRIB's Channel 2 .In addition ,Hemedan's local TV station plans to produce some animated films based on stories from the book.Sheikhi is the author and translator of over 80 books.The cow of No Color by Nina Jaffe and steve Zeitlin and some other works by Ruth Ainsworth are among the books translated into persian by Sheikhi.She has authored "The Golden-Beak Nightingale<" Looking for Bahareh," 'Tails Shop' "small people" and several other books.

Mir-Emad's Masterpiece to Go On Display at London Show

One of the best masterpieces by celebrated persian calligrapher Mir-Emad is to go on display at a London show next month Endowed with great talent,creativity ,and delicacy in art ,Mir Emad was the titan of the nastaliq script (an Iranian style of calligraphy).The exhibition of safavid artwork is organized with the collaboration of the National Museum of Iran and Britain ,the Sadabad Historical Complex director Eshrat Shayeq told the persian service of ISNA on last sunday. Shayeq added that the 20*30 cm masterpiece is a calligraphy work inscribed by Mir- Emad on a Kashmiri piece of paper in the 17th century along with a beautiful decoration in the margin and is considered one of the best works by the master.The masterpiece is being preserved at Mir- Emad Museum in the Sadabad complex Shayeq said adding that the piece was unveiled at the Mir-Emad Museum on the occasion of 400th birth anniversary of the calligrapher in 2005,and has so far has been displayed in several Iranian and international exhibits.Iranian artist and calligrapher Mohammad ibn Seyfi Qazvini (1553-1615)is known as Mir-Emad .It is believed that calligraphy in Nastaliq script reached its peak of magnificence in Mir Emad's works and current practice of nastaliq closely follows his manner.After completing his studies in the fields of science and calligraphy in his hometown Qazvin,he traveled to Tabriz and the Ottoman Empire.He then returned to Iran,serving in the court of Shah Abbas Safavi,and was later murdered in 1615 at the behesht of Shah Abbas.The tomb of the famed calligrapher is located in the small courtyard of the Maqsud-Bayk Mosque in Isfahan

Iran to Honor US Scholar Carl Ernst

Iran's Ministry of science Research and Technology is set to pay tribute to American scolar of sufism,professor Carl .W.Ernst.The north Carolina University professor of religious studies will be awarded the farabi International award for his 1996 book on Ruzbihan Baqli ,the 12th century persian poet. Ernst's book has been translated into persian twice and is widely used in Iranian universities.Ernst attended a conference in Iran earlier this month,during which he called for increased academic and cultural cooperation between Iran and the U.S .American Mowlavi expert,William Chittick and George Washington university lawyer,Miriam Galston will also be honored during the ceremony.Carl W.Ernst is an expert in Islamic studies,who has conducted extensive research into Islam and sufism.His recent book,Following Muhammad: Rethinking Islam in the Contemporary World has received several international awards,including the 2004 Bashrahil prize for outstanding cultural Achievement.

KO UN

Ko Un is born in 1933 in Gunsan,north Jeolla province in South Korea,Ko.Un is Korea's foremost living writer .After immense suffering during the Korean war ,he became a Buddhist monk,his first poems were published in 1958,then a few years later he returned to the world.He became a leading spokesman in the struggle for freedom and democracy during the 1970s and 1980s.Ko.Un is a remarkable poet and one of human freedom in this half century,a religious poet who got tangled by accident in the terrible accidents of modern history,but he is somebody who has been equal to the task ,a feat rare among human beings.In 1942,by the time he was eight ,he had already studied classical Chinese texts that even much older children usually had difficulty in mastering.In 1942 when he was in grade three ,his Japanese head master asked him what he hoped to become in the future and got the answer;The Emperor of Japan !.Ko Un was severely punished for this effrontery.Before the war was over in 1952,he joined the Buddhist clergy and became the recognized disciple of the great monk Hyobong for the next ten years he lived a life of zen meditation,always on the move.He traveled the whole country ,living by aims.In a struggle for which he was often arrested and imprisoned ,he has published more than 120 volumes of poems,essays ,and fiction in recent years,selections from his work have been translated in to at least 14 languages.His books such as:The sound of my waves-"Flower of a moment"-The three way tavern-Ten thousand lives.

Square Watermelon-هندوانه مربع مکعبی

Japanese grocery stores are much smaller than in the U.S.A ,and watermelons wasted a lot of space most people simply told the grocery stores that watermelons grow round and there is nothing that can be done about it.But some Japanese farmers took a different approach .If the supermarkets wanted a square watermelon, they asked themselves,How can we provide one?.It wasn't long before they invented the square watermelon.The solution to the problem of round watermelons wasn't nearly as difficult to solve for those who didn't assume the problem was impossible to begin with and simply asked how it could be done.It turns out that all you need to do is place them into a square box when they are growing and the watermelon will take on the shape of the box .This made the grocery stores very happy and had the added benefit that it was much easier and cost effective to ship the watermelons.Consumers also loved them because they took less space in their refrigerators which are much smaller than those in the U.S meaning that the farmers could charge a premium price for them.

Yalda is the name of longest night during the whole year and the night of the first day of winter season which from ancient time ,Iranian celebrated it;In this night they get to gether (children-parents-grand parents-grand children-uncles and aunts and their families)and start having fun,eating dinner together and eat fruits especially watermelon and nuts and so reading poems.Happy Yalda to all Iranian in all over the world.
